Features and Benefits

Content

Omniverse USD Composer allows you to navigate, modify and render Pixar USD content. Along with USD, Omniverse USD Composer can connect to many applications using Omniverse Connectors to publish 3D models, materials, animation and lighting into USD format. Connectors are available for many existing tools like Revit, Sketchup, 3ds Max, Rhino, Grasshopper, Maya, Unreal, Blender and more on the way. If you don’t have a connector, you can also convert FBX, OBJ, Gltf, LXO directly in app to USD format. Additionally, many tools without Omniverse connectors that support USD natively can be brought into Omniverse USD Composer.

When connected to a Nucleus service, content can be authored LIVE between applications and users for advanced multi user collaborative workflows.

World Building

Omniverse USD Composer offers advanced layout tools to build worlds. This includes the ability to translate existing assets but to also reference additional assets like trees, furniture, roads, people, etc. to fill out the scene. With the Omniverse connectors, you can take this a step further by bringing in landscapes from tools like Unreal, or Houdini, Omniverse USD Composer takes advantage of the advanced workflows of USD like Layers, Variants, Instancing, Animation Caches and much more.

When connected to a Nucleus service, content can be authored LIVE between applications and users for advanced multi user collaborative workflows.

Animation

Omniverse USD Composer supports animation from tools like Maya, Unreal, 3ds max and supports features like animation clips, skeletal animation, animation caches and blend shapes. In Omniverse USD Composer you can either playback these animations in realtime or rendering them out to movies.

Rendering, Materials and Lighting

Omniverse USD Composer includes an advanced multigpu realtime hardware accelerated RTX Renderer and MDL Material Support built on top of Pixar Hydra API. Together they generate incredible realistic realtime interactive simulations with physically accurate materials and lighting. The RTX renderer supports 2 modes, realtime ray tracing for high speed playback and an interactive Path Tracer. With support for multiple GPUs, even the Path Tracer can hit realtime rates that enable you to scale your simulation to almost any speed. Render billions of polygons with beautiful global illumination, reflections and refractions.

Simulation and Effects

Omniverse USD Composer includes advanced simulation capabilities including direct integration of PhysX, Blast and Flow for realistic physics, destruction, fire and smoke simulation. You can also use tools like Houdini to export USD animations and effects that can be brought into Create and rendered.

Output

Once you have created your simulation, you can either output it with our Movie Maker tools to create MP4 or sequential images or create a standalone playback that provides interactivity either on PC, Linux .

The Experimental CloudXR feature is also supported on Tablets for AR experiences.

Developer Tools

Omniverse USD Composer is highly extensible using the Omniverse platform. Omniverse USD Composer, built on NVIDIA Omniverse™ Kit, allows you to develop your own Python extensions to develop your own features. All the key features in Omniverse USD Composer are written as extensions that you can explore and extend on your own. For more information, see the Omniverse Kit documentation.

Platforms

Omniverse USD Composer is supported in both Windows & Linux
