Observability & Logging#

Kit’s observability stack is upgraded to better support OpenTelemetry (OTel) standards, improving integration with cloud services and debugging.

Key Benefits:

  • OpenTelemetry Support: Log messages and telemetry now support OTel formatting and transmission.

  • Centralized Metrics: OmniMetrics and OmniTrace are now integrated into Carbonite, providing unified observability.

  • Improved Logging: Cleaner, more debuggable logs and new guidelines for extension developers.

Sensor and Rendering Enhancements#

  • Tiled Rendering Improvements: All features required by IsaacLab now work in tiled mode with Real-Time 2.0, supporting large-scale robotics and simulation scenarios.

  • Granular AOV Outputs: Non-visual sensors now support granular Arbitrary Output Variables (AOVs), improving data fidelity and analysis.

  • Zivid Sensor Support: Structured light projection and spectrum-specific lighting for advanced camera simulation.

  • Rolling Shutter Camera: Enhanced and documented support for rolling shutter and SRT interpolation.

  • Exposure Equation Update: Kit now uses the UsdGeomCamera exposure equation, ensuring compatibility with USD 25.05 and improved realism.

Platform and Developer Experience#

  • NumPy 2.x Compatibility: All core Kit SDK extensions are now compatible with NumPy 2.x, ensuring seamless integration with the latest scientific computing workflows. In the next major Kit SDK release, NumPy 2.x will become the default version.

  • Storage API Integration: End users can leverage new Storage APIs and Nucleus reference architecture for robust, scalable asset management.
