Omniverse DGN Converter [omni.kit.converter.dgn]
Overview
The Omniverse DGN Converter transforms Bentley Microstation DGN files into OpenUSD format, facilitating their use within NVIDIA’s Omniverse for enhanced visualization, simulation, and collaboration. It leverages the Open Design Alliance (ODA) Drawings SDK to ensure the 3D data’s integrity during conversion, making DGN models accessible in USD-based environments.
Supported CAD file formats
The following file formats are supported by DGN Converter:
DGN (
*.DGN
)
Installation
Open Extension Manager: Navigate to the top menu bar and select Window > Extensions to open the Extension Manager.
Browse Extensions: Within the Extension Manager, you can see available extensions.
Install: Click on an extension you wish to install, then click the “Install” or “Enable” button. CAD Converter Extensions should be installed by enabling and updating the omni.kit.converter.cad as the primary CAD Converter extension, which enables all of the CAD Converter Extension dependencies.
Update: Please refer to Switching to a different CAD Converter Version guide to update the extension.
Licensing Terms of Use and Third-Party Notices
NVIDIA Omniverse is licensed to use the Open Design Alliance (ODA) Drawings SDK for the Omniverse DGN Converter. Please read the License Terms (attached) and add it to the DGN package licenses.
The DGN Converter extensions are non-redistributable by third parties. They are for use by Omniverse users who agree to the NVIDIA Software License Agreement and License Terms of the ODA Drawings SDK.
Surface Tolerance
This is the maximum distance between the tessellated mesh and the original solid/surface. Please refer to Open Design Alliance’s webpage here.
The more precise the value (e.g., 0.00001) the more triangles are generated for the mesh.
A field is provided when selecting a DGN file. The minimum and maximum values are 0 to 1. If a value of 0 is provided, then surface tolerance of an object is calculated as the diagonal its extents multiplied by 0.025.
