Data Collection & Usage#

What data is being collected and how is it used?

Omniverse is a collection of many different components. Omniverse collects anonymous usage data when you install and start interacting with our software. The examples below provide a non-exhaustive list of some of the types of data we collect and how we use it. The specific data collected varies by Omniverse component and service.

  • Installation and configuration details, such as operating system and installed Omniverse application versions, and microservice settings (configuration information for relevant microservices), where applicable - This allows us to recognize usage trends and patterns.

  • Hardware Details such as CPU, GPU, and display resolution - This allows us to optimize settings to provide best-in-class performance.

  • Network configuration (Network speed) - This allows us to optimize to improve your experience.

  • Usage data, including information about the products and features used - This helps us identify usage patterns and improve workflows.

  • Error and crash logs - Error or crash data may be collected to help find and fix bugs. Desktop applications request consent through the crash reporter dialog before uploading a crash report. Cloud sessions do not display this dialog; see the applicable service documentation and agreement for crash-report collection details.

How can I change my data collection settings when using Omniverse Kit containers?

NVIDIA Omniverse Kit Containers collect anonymous usage data to help improve software performance and aid diagnostic purposes. No personally identifiable information such as email addresses or names is collected.

To stop telemetry data from being sent to NVIDIA, remove the omni.kit.telemetry extension from your container and remove it as a dependency from your .kit file. If it remains listed as a dependency, the extension will be re-downloaded on its next launch.

Note

Only legacy structured log telemetry (sent via the omni.kit.telemetry extension) is transmitted to NVIDIA. OpenTelemetry (OTel) output is never sent to NVIDIA — it is purely for your own use.
