Launch the VMI#

Windows VMI#

Navigate to the Azure Marketplace NVIDIA VMI page.

  1. To deploy an Azure instance, click the Get it now button.

  2. On the Plans + Pricing tab, select the offer you want and click Create.

  3. On the Create a virtual machine page, in the Basics tab:

    1. Name your instance.

    2. Set your username and password for your instance.

    3. Select next for Disks. (We recommend a 512GB or larger disk.)

      Note

We recommend selecting the Delete with VM option to avoid incurring unwanted charges if the VM instance is deleted.

    4. Select next for Networking.

      Note

We recommend selecting the Delete Public IP and NIC when VM is deleted option to avoid incurring unwanted charges if the VM instance is deleted.

    5. Click the Review + Create button. Then, on the Review + Create tab, click the Create button. The deployment will start.

    6. When the deployment completes, click the Go to resources button.

    7. On the VM page, copy the Public IP Address.

    8. Open the Remote Desktop Connection client on your local device and paste in the Public IP Address. Click the Connect button.

    9. Enter the username and password created in an earlier step to log in.

Linux VMI#

Linux machine images on Azure require 3rd party software to support 3D accelerated remote desktop connections. Using Cendio’s ThinLinc is a confirmed and tested option, however many alternative options are also available.

  1. Install the ThinLinc server on the virtual machine image.

  2. Install the ThinLinc client on your local workstation.

  3. Use the client to connect to the virtual machine using the VMI’s Public IP Address.
