Viewport Controls

This document describes the user interface (UI) controls within the Viewport:

Viewport Settings

Viewport settings menu

You can configure two components of the Viewport with Viewport settings:

  • Camera settings

  • Viewport settings

Camera Settings

Setting

Description

Reset Camera

Resets all camera settings to their original values

Camera Speed

Sets the speed of the camera when navigating in the Viewport

Camera Speed Scaler

Controls navigation speed

Adaptive Camera Speed

Normalizes the camera speed by its current sphere of interest

Show Speed on Interaction

Shows the current speed when navigating the Viewport

Gamepad Camera Control

Allows you to control the camera with a gamepad

Stop Keyboard On Mouse Up

Stops walk mode when you release the right mouse button

Enable Inertia Mode

Enables inertia on camera movements

Camera Inertia

Controls the inertia of camera movements

Enable Rotational Smoothing

Applies orbit and look rotations over time

Rotational Smoothing Scale

Sets the scaling factor for the time applied to rotations

Rotational Smoothing Always

Applies rotational smoothing outside of walk mode

Enable Gestures

Enables gesture fall off for camera manipulation

Viewport Settings

Setting

Description

Reset Viewport

Resets all Viewport settings to their original values

Grid Color

Sets the color of the grid lines

Grid Line Width

Sets the width of the grid lines

Grid Size

Sets the size of the grid cells

Grid Fadeout

Sets the distance from the camera where the grid lines fade out

Selection Color

Sets the color for selected entities

Selection Width

Sets the size of the selection box

Bounding Box Color

Sets the color of the bounding box

Gizmo Line Width

Sets the width of the gizmo outline

Gizmo Constant Scale

Scales gizmos using this constant value

Gizmo Global Scale

Scales gizmos using this global value

Gizmo Min FadeOut

Sets the distance from the camera where gizmos* appear at full size (Gizmos farther away scale down until the Gizmo Max FadeOut distance where they are no longer visible.)

Gizmo Max FadeOut

Sets the distance from the camera where gizmos* no longer appear

Set FPS Limit

Limits the Viewport rendering framerate to the specified FPS Limit

FPS Limit with Busy Loop

Limits the Viewport rendering framerate with a busy loop

FPS Limit

Sets the framerate in frames per second (FPS) if Set FPS Limit is checked

Render Resolution Multiplier

Upsamples or downsamples your Viewport relative to the specified Render Resolution

Aperture Policy

Sets the simulated aperture behavior

Render Resolution

Sets the base resolution rendered in the Viewport

Fill Viewport

Fills the viewport with the scene

*Only joint gizmos use this feature.

Selected Camera

Selected camera menu

Option

Description

Camera

Provides a view through the selected camera

Perspective

Provides a view through a configured perspective (Configure this under Camera in the Property panel.)

Top

Provides a view through the origin from the positive side of z-axis

Front

Provides a view through the origin from the positive side of x-axis

Right

Provides a view through the origin from the positive side of y-axis

Render Mode

RTX – Real-Time

Sets the renderer to RTX – Real-Time

RTX – Interactive (Path Tracing)

Sets the renderer to RTX – Interactive (Path Tracing)

RTX – Accurate (Iray)

Sets the renderer to RTX – Accurate (Iray)

Pixar Storm

Sets the renderer to Pixar Storm

White mode

Uses a simple mode material for all opaque objects

Wireframe mode

Uses non-shaded wireframes for all objects

Shaded Wireframe mode

Uses shaded wireframes for all objects

Interface Visibility

Option

Description

HUD Stats

Toggles the visibility of the following HUD statistics:

  • Fps

  • GPU Memory

  • Host Memory

  • Resolution

  • PathTracing

  • Layer

Display Purpose

Toggles the visibility of Display Purpose assets marked as the following:

  • Guide

  • Proxy

  • Render

Show By Type

Toggles the visibility of the following elements in the Viewport:

  • Cameras

  • Lights

  • Skeleton

  • Physics

  • Mesh

  • Audio

Selection Outline

Toggles selection highlighting

Axis

Toggles the visibility of axes

Grid

Toggles the visibility of the grid
