Features

Content

NVIDIA Omniverse™ View is an editing, rendering and analysis tool which uses USD as a common file format to allow loss-less collaboration between common content creation tools. Omniverse View connects to applications using Omniverse Connectors to publish 3D models, materials, cameras, animation and lighting into USD format. Connectors are available for Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Rhino, Grasshopper, Maya, Houdini, Unreal, Unity, and Blender with more on the way. If you don’t have a connector, you can also convert FBX, OBJ, Gltf and LXO directly in the Omniverse View app to USD format. Additionally, many tools without Omniverse connectors but do support USD natively can be brought into Omniverse View. Data can be organized into Projects to better control how designs and elements from various sources are aggregated as well as efficiently updated.

When connected to a Nucleus service, content can be authored LIVE between applications and users for advanced multi-user collaborative workflows.

World Building

Omniverse View offers advanced layout tools to build beautiful visualizations. This includes the ability to translate existing assets around but to also reference additional assets like trees, furniture, roads, people, etc. to add scale and complete the scene. It offers painting tools to easily add large amounts of assets like trees and grass to quickly build realistic landscapes . With the Omniverse connectors, you can take this a step further by bringing in models from tools like Unreal, Houdini, 3ds Max or design tools. To make content authoring simple, Omniverse View includes libraries of materials, skies, trees and furniture.

Animation

Once you have a world, you can create Sun Study animations or import animations from tools like Maya to utilize in the scene.

Rendering, Materials and Lighting

Omniverse View includes an advanced hardware accelerated RTX Path Traced Renderer. This coupled with MDL materials generates incredible, realistic interactive visualizations with physically accurate materials and lighting. The RTX Path Traced renderer also supports multiple GPUs that enable you to scale your visualization to almost any speed. Render billions of polygons in seconds with beautiful global illumination, reflections and refractions.. Omniverse View also includes a realtime ray tracing mode for high speed playback and authoring.

Simulation

Omniverse View includes simulation tools for sun and skies allowing you to visualize daylighting based on geographical location, time of day and day of year. This includes realistic procedural, dynamic clouds and animated sun studies. A section tool provides for quick visualization of various portions of a building for evaluation of floorplans, lighting schemas as well as interior details.

Output

Once you have created your visualization, Omniverse View enables you to export your renderings as high resolution images and 360 panoramas using Ansel.

Developer Tools

Omniverse View is highly extensible using the Omniverse platform. Omniverse View allows you to develop your own C++ or Python extensions to create your own features. All the key features on Omniverse View are written as Omniverse extensions that you can explore and extend on your own. For more information, see the Omniverse View documentation.
